Roberta Reaves, COTA/L has two beautiful children and is a licensed and certified occupational therapy assistant. She obtained her degree from St. Catherine University in May 2021 and is licensed by the Virginia State Board of Medicine. She previously enjoyed a career as a medical assistant for 13 years, then as an entrepreneurial childcare provider through her in-home childcare service for 3 years. She has found immense joy in working with the pediatric community and continues to do so as an independent contractor through Helping Hands Therapy Services. When she is not working for Helping Hands, she is focused on providing one-on-one services to students through her company,
Against All Odds Child Mentoring Services. Against All Odds is a mentoring/tutoring service provided by a licensed and certified occupational therapy assistant; however, services are provided outside the scope of occupational therapy. Services provided under this business model are non-medical and do not involve healthcare insurance billing or medical documentation.
Services are provided through personalized one-on-one or small group sessions to support students who are having difficulties, or are at risk of having difficulties that could potentially prevent them from reaching their fullest potential in the school environment and/or in the home/social environments.
These services are focused on supporting students who may have trouble navigating through traditional classrooms, and also students who would benefit from time dedicated to improving their academic performance, increasing their social-emotional skills, improving their self-regulation skills, and identifying effective tools/strategies to increase their success during daily activities.
Sessions are typically sixty (60) minutes, 1-2 times per week, and are tailored to support the student and the family as they work towards achieving meaningful goals.
Currently, there is no supply fee. Curriculum, books, and basic supplies (pencil, paper, etc.) will be provided by the family. Additional supplies and materials will be provided by the instructor.
Roberta is grateful for the opportunity to have a hand in the growth and development of students through individual and group sessions at Homeschool Plus!
